Are you Dallas' Deep Throat?

The day after UnfairPark posted it's first summary of the CPC / Bowling Alley vote, someone claiming to be a City of Dallas employee posted this comment in the blog...

I'm a city employee. I'm blowing the whistle here. The District 14 councilperson has politicized the code enforcement on Greenville Avenue. We've been forbidden from enforcing black-and-white code requirements against Madison Partners. We received instructions to overlook reported violations and to reinterpret fuzzy code violations in favor of this landowner. Code enforcement should not be politicized.

This statement could be a bunch of e-poop, or it could be legitimate.

Based on BD's discussions with neighborhood people a whole lot closer to the Lowest Greenville zoning process, I believe this person is credible and knowledgeable. There are too many other things going on right now that make it hard not to believe what he/she is saying.

Political corruption at any level is offensive (shout out to John Wiley Price and Mayor Rolodex?). Political corruption that destroys a neighborhood is disgusting and dangerous, and can negatively impact the community for years to come. Telling the whole story and showing how our elected official is possibly jacking the system is the only way to stop the damage before things get worse than they already are.

Watergate was just a minor break-in story until Deep Throat (who turned out to be #3 at the FBI) leaked documents to Woodward and Bernstein. Watergate is why I - and millions of others - have journalism degrees.

Mr or Ms City Employee, BD wants to hear your story. He wants to see your files, read your copies of the memos and emails, and force you to prove without a shadow of a doubt what you say is true. If my hunch is right, you have copies of everything safely stored out of your office. And you made an extra set just in case someone was paying attention.

I am paying attention.

That's why I am posting and emailing this story. Hundreds of Dallas City Staff on are my mailing list. They know my reputation for getting to the truth and not being afraid to post the relevant documents. They know my own records and databases go back nearly a dozen years. I can take your information, verify it against city records and prove - or yes, even disprove - what you are saying.

I offer you safe passage, confidentiality, and a detailed process to verify everything you say before it's published.

Send me an email - avi@barkingdogs.org. Call me @ 214-824-5771. You can mail them in a plain envelope to my post office box - POB 720173, Dallas TX 75372.

Let's do lunch. Just not on Lowest Greenville, okay?
