DOA: Andres' withdraw proposal for Carnival redevelopment
The rezoning proposal submitted by Andres Real Estate for the 1800 block of Henderson Avenue, a/k/a the old Carnival Store, has been withdrawn from consideration at the City's Plan Commission.
The announcement was confirmed in an email sent by Marc Andres to BD and others in the neighborhood this afternoon.
There was no elaboration on the issue of why the proposal was withdrawn.
There is no confirmation to the rumor that WalMart will be buying the property so they can build a Neighborhood Wal-Mart store (similar to the one on North Central near Lemmon) at this location. This project would not need any kind of rezoning in order to be built.
BD and others who supported the Henderson Avenue proposal can only hope the architects will put the loading docks on the north side of the building, facing the residents living in the so-called Lower Greenville West NA, and require the delivery trucks use Summit Avenue to get to the store at 5am, with their horns blaring (not much different than the Budweiser trucks steamrolling down these tiny streets).
While this may be unfair to the 96% of the people who live in that neighborhood and had no idea what this phony neighborhood association was doing in their name, it might wake them up enough to form an association that really speaks to its members, including the ones with all that dark skin pigmentation so lacking on the phony LGWNA panel.
