Playing the DPD race card on Lowest Greenville - yeah, that's the ticket
BD has no problem describing many of the patrons on Lowest Greenville as gangbangers and hoochie-mamas. Being an equal-opportunity insulter who knows how to use a dictionary, he knows those terms have been in use for generations and are not racially significant (unless you happen to be the gangbanger du jour). As far as we are concerned, garbage is garbage no matter the color of their skin or their money. And on Lowest Greenville, money is all that matters.
For years, the scumbar owners on Lowest Greenville have no problems pointing their fingers across the street, saying It's the other guy's fault for bringing in [fill in the racial label] - they play the music that attracts them like flies to manure (trust BD, manure was not the word they used). BD needed the Puppettes to tell him it was the same artists singing the same songs in scumbars on both sides of the street, like a Siren's call to gangbangers.
According to the DPD Weekend Summary, this past Friday and Saturday were both extremely busy. The weekend arrest counts for public intoxication and fighting jumped to nearly 30, after months of running in the low digits. And there were at least five loud music complaints called in (again, a high number). It's not surprising to see the race card finally played out by a scumbar employee who had no other card to play.
According to the DPD report, prepared by Sgt. Bailey (who is also African-American)
A call for loud music came out at 2010 Greenville (Public House) [on Friday evening]. The owner (Adam Seigel) was given a warning.
Later in the evening, that same establishment’s music was blaring with its doors and windows open. I advised the employee at the door to close the door and the window. He refused, stating that the owner told him he didn’t have to do what the officer advised.
Subsequently, the owner was issued a citation for loud noise. In the course of the incident, an employee of Public House stated I was a racist.
I am not partial to any person or establishment on Greenville Avenue. It’s unfortunate there are individuals who use race as an issue to demean the overall purpose of why our police officers are out on Greenville Avenue.
Public House's owners have made the point on numerous occasions of saying they don't let gangbanger garbage in their doors, and waving the previously-referenced finger to operations across the street.
There's no description as to how fast the conversation proceeded downhill after that statement was made, but BD has a gut feeling it wasn't a polite discussion. For Sgt. Bailey to take the time to include this statement in the weekend report only shows how bad things are getting out here.
BD is completely inured to the comments that his activities on Greenville Avenue have something to do with him being Jewish or living in Israel. But by even the extremely gutter standards of Lowest Greenville, this comment absolutely takes the prize. Even though Sgt. Bailey is a few inches shorter than BD, he has absolutely no doubts in his mind that she can - and has - kicked numerous butt in the bars and on the streets. Her professional training kicked in and she deftly restrained herself in this incident. (see the YouTube video involving Sgt. Bailey below).
We've sent a text message to Adam Seigel and will post his comments if and when he replies.
