Dallas police investigating shootout at Lower Greenville bar (and a sexual assault)
Dallas police are interviewing one suspect and looking for another in connection with an early morning shooting on Lower Greenville Avenue that sent four people to the hospital.
Around 2:15 a.m., gunfire broke out in a parking lot outside the Billiard Bar on Greenville near Alta Avenue. Police said two groups of patrons started a fight.
“We’ll look into the possibility that it’s gang-related or drug-related,” said Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse, a Dallas police spokesman.
Carlos Rojas, 18, and Graylon Jackson, 30, were both shot in the arm. Kevin McAfee, 31, was hit in the neck and 28-year-old Summer Sullivan was shot in the back, police reports said.
Jackson, McAfee and Sullivan were taken to Baylor University Medical Center and Rojas was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, police said.
None of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening.
Detectives were interviewing those involved in the fracas and numerous witnesses, Janse said.
No charges were immediately filed.
Here is the story about the event, as told to BD by a bar employee -
At 10pm, a white van arrived with four Hispanic males and parked on the west side of Greenville Avenue near 180/Service Bar. They left the vehicle and walked across the street to Eight Lounge.
At 2am, this person heard gunshots and went outside to see the fracas. He observed the crowd in front of Eight Lounge. A black male was on the ground, bleeding from his arm (which was wrapped in a cloth material by this time). The four Hispanic males got into the white van and left the area at high speed. They were pursued by other club patrons, and worked with the DPD to help stop the van in the neighborhood. At least one person in the van was identified as the possible shooter and taken into custody.
