Bouncer gone wild on Lowest Greenville...
The past few weeks of violence on Lowest Greenville are not surprising to some of the regular bar/club owners. In their opinion, things were just starting to calm down, with a decrease in the amount of two-legged garbage, when an old operator showed up and started cranking up the trouble again.
This operator, who will remain nameless for now, was managing Club 180 when fights and shooting broke out over the past two weeks, though he denies any connection to the events. Now he and a few partners, including the operator of another club (now closed) known for having after-hours service, are back in business together. As one bar owner told BD - It's like 2008 all over again. Customers who sit in a bar all night and sip on one Dr. Pepper, maybe if we're lucky a beer, and yell at the females. Troublemakers who can't get into any other club on the strip - or Dallas - get into these places. We were so close to a little more sanity and a little less fighting...
Club 180 hired the off-duty officer who refused to identify himself on Saturday evening. After the DPD checked his papers, the owners and operators taunted BD in an attempt to shoo him away. Lots of good that's gonna do, right?
This is not just a bunch of coincidences. There's big (and possibly dirty) money from a Hispanic family with deep restaurant roots in Dallas trying to expand to Lowest Greenville (not to confused with the MexTopia restaurant being built by Ricardo Avila in the former Speakeasy location, where they just uncovered the original 1926 terrazzo floor) and they are pulling no punches to get what they want, like valet parking services in the middle of Greenville Avenue.
This group is in the process of taking over the Sugar Shack (the current owner has family obligations which require he leave Texas), which would make a decent club into a white trash version of a gangbanger club like 180. Hence, BD is officially rebranding Sugar Shack as Sugary ShackEmUp.
A few hours later, there was a fight inside the club, resulting in (according to DPD sources) a few bottles being thrown at people. DPD entered the bar and helped clear out the garbage. But a few seconds later, a Hispanic male came running out the club and raced down the sidewalk towards Taco Cabana, grabbing a black male.
Okay, freeze frame here. It turns out the Hispanic male was a Club 180 bouncer (again, per sources who called BD after the incident) and not a customer (customers do not normally carry large flashlights in their back pockets), who was planning to put a large can of WhupAss on the black male.
Never mind that he was not wearing anything to show he was a club employee (eg most clubs have shirts that say STAFF in big letters). Never mind that leaving the club for any reason to do anything to a person is a major security no-no frowned on by the DPD.
And let's add, telling BD to shut off his camera in NSFW words is an absolute guarantee your image will be posted on online for all to see. Let's start right here...
Note to the TABC - Has anyone filed a Breach of Peace report for the troubles in Club 180 last evening? Did not think so.
