BD announces run for Dallas City Council
Lowest Greenville's resident curmudgeon and neighborhood activist will formally announce that he is a candidate for the Dallas City Council.
The announcement will be made outside the Dallas SPCA center on Industrial / Riverfront Boulevard this afternoon.
Sources in his nascent campaign have reported he will legally change his name to "Barking Dog" in order to take advantage of his popularity and media attention when people go into the polling booth.
BD's campaign slogan will be "We need a BARKING DOG on Dallas City Council. He'll bite for us."
Here is a sample of the first bumper sticker -

Alex Salinas, gangbanger club owner, is now a former City official
For years, bar owner Alex Salinas has been going around bragging about two of his titles - owner of Lowest Greenville's largest gangbanger bar, and being an 'official' of the City of Dallas. He had no problem pushing his 'official' status, waving his identification card (really a parking pass) as an alternate appointee to the City's Appraisal Review Board (read - he did not sit at the table unless else died) and even using it to tell Dallas Police officers to enforce a TRO against BD that did not even exist (see story - Ethics? We don't need no stinkin' ethics on Lowest Greenville...)
It might be hard to top the gangbanger bar owner title, but BD can say with absolute certainty, Alex, you ain't a City Official any more....
Cry me a river, find me a service crew?

Two weeks ago, BD encountered this flooded service alley between 5700 Richmond and 5700 Prospect. When he called 311 to report it, the service person told him it had been reported as a broken main and crews were on the way that very moment to fix it.
Maybe we need to send a search-and-rescue team out to find the service crew?
Let's look at the numbers for St. Patrick's Day...

Wortham PD fires officer for unauthorized off-duty work on Lowest Greenville
Wortham Texas Police Chief Scott S. Peters notified BD by email on Sunday evening that the unnamed officer working for Club 180 on Saturday evening is a former Reserve Officer from his department. Chief Peters previously served as a police officer in Carrollton TX and a Sergeant in Coppell TX until being hired as Chief in Wortham in early 2009. He told BD he was way too familiar with the issues and problems on Lowest Greenville and did not want his officers working this area in any way whatsoever.
The operative word here is former.
