Dallas City Council

The misdeeds, missteps and misbehavings of our elected representatives (and occasionally the good things they do)

Psssst... wanna buy the mayor's (domain) name?

BD's been doing some summer cleaning around the office this weekend (actually, he's trying to find some firecrackers from Philadelphia, where they really know how to celebrate the Fourth of July), and decided he needed to sell some of his e-junk.

First on the list - the domain name MayorTomLeppert.com.

There's nothing personal about the domain name, BD actually kinda sorta likes the Mayor. He bought the name after the election in 2007 and thinks the time has come to sell it.

Private registration is available, of course. Click on the image for more information.

It was a nasty weekend on Lower Greenville...

The Dallas Police Department reported three armed/aggravated robberies, a knife cutting, and bunch of arrests for stupid stuff this weekend.

There was an armed robbery early Friday morning in the BelmontNA area of Lowest Greenville. According to DPD Offense Report 0177460-W, 28-year-old Jo Yea of Carrollton and another witness were robbed at gunpoint by an unknown suspect at 230am near the corner of Matilda and Prospect.

But that's not all...

This is a stick-up! April Fools - not

BD is wondering about the sensibilities of your average armed robber in Dallas. Why go to all the effort of robbing someone on Lower Greenville on a weeknight, when the big money is out here on the weekends.

Maybe it was this guy's idea of a bad April Fools joke, but two victims are not laughing.

MCEO Leppert spins CD and politics on Lower Greenville

The first appearance on Lower Greenville for Mayor Tom Leppert was billed as a music event extraordinaire. Well, at least that's what the Dallas Observer promised us...

Rather, it was a very professional group of Young Democrats getting some facetime with Hiz Honor on such topics as the convention hotel, the Trinity River development, the stimulus package and city services.

It's not like Mr. Leppert does not have a sense of humor. When the group's leader asked for questions, he made a point that YDO members - who are all under 40 - would have the first round of questions.

The Mayor stood up, wiped his brow, and said, I thought he meant that you had to be under 40 to answer the question.
