Neighborhood

LGWNA: Neighborhood association or liars club? You decide.

BD attended a meeting of the faux-Lowest Greenville West, much to the consternation of association president John Scarborough. Luckily, BD had a proxy for a property owner in the area in his back pocket, so he got to sit back and watch eight residents discuss the usual issues like crime, noise, and bars.

A fly on the wall would have enjoyed this load of poop immensely.

Towing service battle gets hot on Lower Greenville

A few weeks ago, BD wrote about how the Nandina's Tapas valet (5600 Alta) was using the Taco Cabana parking lot for their customers, simply by bribing the towing service spotter every weekend. (see No more Taco valet).

But big changes were also happening across the street at Taco Cabana. The towing service - AJ's - was already on shaky ground following complaints about abusive towing and bad attitudes to customers and employees. TC was already in negotiations with a new towing service - United Tows LLC - to take over the contract.

City never gets around to installing No Parking signs

Update 10.07.05 - If you thought that anyone at City Hall cared about the little stuff, think again. Despite assurances from PWT and NSA Hunt's office that the No Parking signs on the west side of Hope Street would be replaced by TX OU weekend, they were lacking on Friday evening.

What makes this more frustrating is that there are two signs installed on the street - one on the south end right against the telephone pole, and one on the north end near the residential structure. But because they are so far apart, it is impossible for DPD to issue a No Parking  ticket - you want to explain to the judge just how far away from the sign the restriction applies??? It's been like this for nearly three months; even signs posted by officers high up on the telephone poles were torn off.

Throw in the DPD's policy this past weekend to not issue tickets for illegal parking on residential streets and you have another victory for the scumbars. So much for getting things done on Lower Greenville - again.

How to use the BarkingDogs archives

The BarkingDogs.org website has been online since late 1998. That means we have tons of articles, photos and graphics documenting changes along and around Lower Greenville.

The BarkingDogs website was created using a multiple number of design programs, starting with DreamWeaver and moving on to NetObjects Fusion, and now Drupal (content management).

Most of the graphics have been taken offline due to website space limits. If you are looking for a specific photo and find a broken link to one in a story, give us the name of the story and we will try to locate the picture.
