The Dallas Police Department raided the Hotel Capri on Lowest Greenville early Saturday morning after two DPD officers were seriously injured in an accident caused by an intoxicated underage male driver.

According to DPD sources, two officers were on patrol not far from Lower Greenville when their squad car was t-boned by another vehicle around 11pm Friday evening. The female officer is reported to have a broken arm and collar bone. The male officer, a rookie who was driving the vehicle, suffered head injuries that caused blurry vision, possibly a concussion. During the investigation, the driver and his passenger were determined to be intoxicated and underage. They admitted to having partied at Hotel Capri (which BD can only surmise was confirmed in some way, such as credit card receipts).

About 1am, four squad cars drove up Greenville Avenue and blocked the front entry to the club (located near Prospect Avenue, next to Char-Bar). Over the next two hours, all the patrons and guests were checked for proper identification, warrants and age. Citations were issued to at least seven persons, including the bartenders for serving minors, and outstanding warrants. One female was taken into custody but released when all her warrants were determined to be outside of Dallas. Another male was arrested in an unrelated incident when started verbally abusing an officer who could not find the incident report for a ticket he just received earlier in the evening.

By 3am, the arrested persons were all processed and in custody on their way to Detox or Dallas County Jail.

Update @ 12:15 pm Saturday - A DPD supervisory officer has confirmed to BD the following injuries to the officers in the t-boned squad car: Arispe has a small fracture in her arm, a concussion, swelling and bruising. Scudder has a concussion.

Update @ 11:30 am Saturday

The DPD Media Office has released more information about the auto accident which led to the Hotel Capri raid. The release says the officer's injuries were not as serious as originally reported to BD on Saturday morning.

Man Runs Stop Sign--Collides with Dallas Police Car

On 7/23/2010 at 11:20 pm arrestee Stephen Michael Jones W/M/01-14-91 (photo) was fleeing the scene of a major accident that he caused at St. Mary and Lindsley Ave. He was traveling westbound on the 5200 block of Tremont in a 2002 Saturn when he ran a stop sign and collided with a marked Dallas Police squad car. The suspect t-boned the squad car in the passenger door where Senior Corporal Cynthia Arispe was sitting. The squad car was being driven by Officer Calvin Scudder. The officers were travelling northbound on Munger at Tremont when they were struck.

Both officers were transported to Baylor hospital with injuries. Both officers went through numerous tests and x-rays all with negative results, just bad bumps and bruises. The suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with one count of assault on a public servant F/3 (fleeing the scene of first accident and intentionally running a stop sign) and one count of intoxication assault on a police officer F/2. He is at Lew Sterrett. There are reports circulating that officers went to the location where the suspect had been drinking and raided the place but that cannot be confirmed and that information was not given out by this office. The accident was not captured on the damaged squad car's dash cam. The passenger in suspect Jones vehicle was not injured but I do not know if he was arrested for public intoxication or not.

Jones is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail on $17,500 bond.
